Virginia is reportedly elevating senior analyst Adam Mims to serve as the program’s new wide receivers coach.
On3’s Matt Zenitz reported the move on Monday. Before landing a s
pot on Tony Elliott’s UVA staff, Mims coached wideouts at UT-Chattanooga (2019-21), Tennessee Tech (2018), and Presbyterian (2016-17). He’ll take over for Marques Hagans, who left the program last week after 12 years to join Penn State’s coaching staff.
Mims played his college ball at Furman, where he was a record-setting receiver. He closed out his career as the s
chool’s all-time leader in receptions (198) and career receiving yards (2,433). He also set the program record for single-season receptions with 74.
At Furman, Mims was coached by none other than Elliott.
The prior relationship should certainly help the Cavs. Replacing a longtime assistant like Hagans was never going to be an easy task this deep into the offseason.
