Virginia defeated Duke 69-68 on Monday night thanks to a last-second 3-pointer from Reece Beekman.

The Blue Devils appeared to have a defensive breakdown that left Beekman uncovered in the corner. Paolo Banchero raced in for the close-out, but was too late.

Here’s the play:

This win gives Virginia a signature victory this season. The Cavaliers likely don’t have the résumé to make an NCAA Tournament run, but a win over the Blue Devils will give them a boost.

It’s just the second win of Tony Bennett’s career inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. His last road victory over the Blue Devils came in 2018. This is the 10th road win over Duke in Virginia’s program history.

Virginia is now 15-9 overall and 9-5 in ACC play. It’s currently ranked No. 78 nationally, according to KenPom’s live rankings. An at-large berth is still possible, but Virginia would need to go on an impressive run to end the season.

The Cavaliers have two remaining games vs. likely Tournament teams — at Miami on Feb. 19 and vs. Duke on Feb. 23.

But first, Virginia will host Georgia Tech on Saturday.
