Virginia’s Brennan Armstrong is quietly having one of the best QB seasons in ACC history

Don’t sleep on Virginia’s Brennan Armstrong.

While most ACC observers have been paying attention to Kenny Pickett’s emergence or Clemson’s downfall, Armstrong has been putting together a potentially all-time season for the Cavaliers.

Armstrong is currently averaging 402.5 passing yards per game, which leads all Power 5 quarterbacks by nearly 40 yards per contest. He’s on pace to smash Deshaun Watson’s ACC record of 4,593 passing yards in a single season.

Armstrong has thrown for 23 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions. He’s also rushed for 177 yards and 5 more scores so far this season.

He’s thrown for 475+ yards in multiple conference road games this year — a feat matched by only Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes in recent years.

Armstrong has already set career-highs in completions, attempts, touchdowns and yards. He’s also on track to break career benchmarks in completion percentage and average yards per attempt.

Simply put, he’s playing like one o

f the nation’s best quarterbacks — and the best might still be yet to come.

Virginia’s schedule sets up nicely for an even gaudier final stretch. The Cavaliers still have to face BYU, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech. The Cougars and Fighting Irish are both outside the top 80 nationally in passing defense.

Armstrong could break Virginia’s single-season passing yardage record as soon as this upcoming weekend. The Cavaliers face BYU on Saturday, and Armstrong needs just 319 yards to best Bryce Perkins’ school record of 3,538, which was set in 2019.

Kick off vs. BYU is set for 10:15 p.m. ET on Saturday.
