Former Virginia Tech standout DeAngelo Hall joins NFL coaching staff

Former Virginia Tech great DeAngelo Hall is now an NFL assistant coach. The Carolina Panthers announced this weekend that Hall has joined the staff as assistant defensive backs coach.

In 3 seasons at Virginia Tech, Hall recorded 190 tackles, 20 passes defended, 8 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery as a defender. He also scored touchdowns on offense and special teams, making him part of an exclusive club of college football players. A first-team All-American in 2003, Hall is a member of the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame.

Hall was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. He played for the Atlanta Falcons (2004-07), Oakland Raiders (2008) and Washington Redskins (2008-17). Washington recognizes Hall as one of the 90 greatest players in franchise history.

Hall finished his NFL career with 730 tackles, 43 interceptions, 10 touchdowns, 15 fumble recoveries, 11 forced fumbles and 2 sacks. He holds NFL records for most interceptions in 1 half (4) and career fumble return yards (328).

In his post-playing career, Hall has been a broadcaster.
