Former Virginia Tech WR hired to assistant role at Southland Conference program

Former Virginia Tech wide receiver Jarrett Boykin has accepted a position as wide receivers coach at Texas A&M-Commerce, a DI program that competes in the Southland conference.

Boykin, who is now 33, started out as a quality control assistant at Charlotte, moving to Division II Wingate the year following as a wide receivers coach.

Boykin spent last season as Murray State’s wide receivers coach. Now, it seems he is on the move once again.

Boykin played 5 seasons in the NFL after going undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent 4 years at Virginia Tech and contributed every season he played. His best year was his junior one, seeing Boykin total 861 yards and 6 touchdown receptions on the year.

He totaled 3 touchdowns receptions in the NFL.
