Virginia Tech linebacker Alan Tisdale will make his season debut vs. Miami this Saturday.

Coach Brent Pry announced that Tisdale’s eligibility issue has been cleared up. Tisdale is listed as Virginia Tech’s starting WILL linebacker on the Hokies’ depth chart this week.

“Alan’s a veteran player,” Pry said Tuesday, via TechSideline. “He’s done everything right to put himself in position to play.

“We’re thankful to him for that, first of all. He’s worked really hard and embraced his role, even though he was frustrated. And really brought value to the scout team each and every practice. And [we’re] glad it worked out for him.”

While this will be Pry’s first chance to coach Tisdale on the field, he’s no stranger to playing in big games for Virginia Tech. The senior linebacker enters this game with 195 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 5 sacks in his career.

He should help shore up a Virginia Tech defense that currently ranks 7th in the ACC in yards per play allowed at 5.22.

Virginia Tech and Miami kickoff at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
