Marshall wouldn’t call it an upset. After all, the Thundering Herd entered Week 4’s matchup against Virginia Tech as 5-point favorites, playing at home against the Power 5 Hokies.
And Vegas won this time around. Marshall got the job done Saturday afternoon, beating a lowly Virginia Tech squad 24-17.
But the embarrassment wasn’t over for the Hokies when the final horn sounded. Marshall’s social media team made sure of that.
The Thundering Herd social squad posted a picture of a bison chasing away a HokieBird with the caption “Exit Sandman.”
Virginia Tech was unable to get out of its own way with penalties Saturday. The Hokies finished with 9 penalties as opposed to Marshall’s 3. The Thundering Herd also outrushed the Hokies and finished with more passing yards, too.
Marhsall led for most of the game after the Hokies opened the scoring with a 6-play, 75-yard touchdown drive.
