Miami DC Kevin Steele on playing at Virginia Tech: ‘That’s a loud, loud place to play’

Virginia Tech will host Miami in a crucial ACC Coastal matchup on Saturday afternoon.

It’s expected to be a hostile environment for the Hurricanes. Virginia Tech has a reputation for one of the loudest crowds in the country, and the Hokies have already sold-out this weekend’s game.

Miami defensive coordinator Kevin Steele recognized the difficult atmosphere that the Canes are about to walk into.

“That’s a loud, loud place to play,” Steele said on Monday afternoon. “We have to block all that out … We have to make sure we execute. That makes it a little quieter then.”

While neither team is off to a good start in 2022, the race for the Coastal t

itle is far from over. North Carolina is currently the favorite despite allowing over 6 yards per play.

Miami has won the last 2 meetings with Virginia Tech, including a narrow 25-24 win over the Hokies in Blacksburg back in 2020. Miami also won in Blacksburg in 2018.

Overall, Miami is 24-15 against Virginia Tech. The Canes have won 4 of the last 5 matchups, including the last 2.

Kickoff is at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
