Michael Vick included on 2024 ballot for College Football HOF

Michael Vick turned in an electric career during his time at Virginia Tech. Now, the former dual-threat quarterback with dazzling open-field running ability is up for the College Football Hall of Fame.

The National Football Foundation revealed the ballot for the class of 2024 on Monday with Vick included as 1 of 78 players on t

he ballot. 9 coaches also made the ballot.

After redshirting during the 1998 season, Vick burst onto the scene in 1999. He threw for just over 2,000 yards with 13 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman while adding 682 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns.

Vick went on to finish 3rd in the 1999 Heisman Trophy voting behind Wisconsin RB Ron Dayne and Georgia Tech QB Joe Hamilton. Vick did receive 25 first-place votes for the honor. Though Florida State would knock off Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl to claim the national championship, Vick continued to dazzle on the big stage.

Though limited by injuries in the 2000 season, Vick threw for 1

,234 yards, rushed for 617 yards and accounted for 16 total touchdowns. He most notably rushed for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns in a road win over Boston College and was named the Gator Bowl MVP for a 41-20 win over Clemson. Vick would finish 6th in voting for the 2000 Heisman Trophy.

During Vick’s 2 seasons as the primary starter, the Hokies went 22-2 overall with back-to-back top-10 finishes on the AP Poll. He was a First-team All-American and the Big East’s Player of the Year for the 1999 season.

After the 2000 season, Vick left college to enter the NFL Draft where the Atlanta Falcons would select the QB No. 1 overall.
