Virginia Tech is on the verge of making a huge hire for its coaching staff, according to a report.
Per The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Jeff Potrykus, the Hokies are heavily pursuing Wisconsin offensive line coach Joe Rudolph. Potrykus’ report notes that Rudolph called plays for the Badgers in 2020, but lost that responsibility for the 2021 season.
Rudolph has a great reputation as an offensive line coach. He played for the Badgers in the mid-1990s under coach Barry Alvarez and has been their OL coach since 2015.
Rudolph doesn’t have any career overlaps with new Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry, although the pair have surely recruited against one another in the past.
Rudolph also has experience in the ACC, having spent time as Pitt’s offensive coordinator from 2012-14. He also has stints at Nebraska and Ohio State on his résumé.
The Hokies have already hired an offensive coordinator in Tyler Bowen, but FootballScoop is reporting
