The game sold out as a result of the anticipation of this matchup. Virginia Tech heads into this home game with a 2-1 record. After losing the first game of the season to Old Dominion, the Hokies rattled off 2 consecutive home wins over Boston College and Wofford.
For last Saturday’s 27-7 win over Wofford, 62,000 people attended the game with an early start time. With Thursday’s game taking place in primetime, the stadium will be filled to capacity.
This will be a revenge game for Virginia Tech, as the Hokies fell to West Virginia on the road in 2021. West Virginia leads the all-time series with a 29-23-1 record over Virginia Tech.
In 2022, West Virginia is off to a slow start with a 1-2 record. The Mountaineers dropped the first 2 games of the season against Pittsburgh and Kansas. The team bounced back in Week 3 with a 65-7 drubbing of Towson.
Thursday’s game will take place at 7:30 p.m. ET.
