Virginia Tech beats Boston College, wins first game of the Brent Pry era

Virginia Tech defeated Boston College 27-10 in front of a sellout crowd at Lane Stadium on Saturday night.

It’s the first win of the season and of Brent Pry’s coaching tenure in Blacksburg.

T

he Hokies dominated this game on the defensive side of the ball. They allowed just 155 total yards of offense from a Boston College team that includes Phil Jurkovec and Zay Flowers.

The Eagles especially struggled to gain yardage on the ground. Running back Pat Garwo led the team with only 15 yards on 10 carries.

It wasn’t much better through the air. Jurkovec completed 16-of-29 passes for 144 yards, 1 t

ouchdown and 1 interception.

Offensively, Virginia Tech did a much better job of holding onto the ball this week. Quarterback Grant Wells didn’t throw an interception vs. BC after tossing 4 in a loss to Old Dominion in Week 1.

Running backs Keshawn King and Jalen Holston each scored touchdowns for Virginia Tech. Malachi Thomas remains out with an injury he sustained during fall camp.

Virginia Tech hosts Wofford next week.
