Virginia Tech beats out Penn State, Maryland for in-state WR prospect

Brent Pry managed to keep an in-state talent from leaving on Thursday. Virginia Tech secured the commitment of a wideout from the 2024 class.

Chanz Wiggins picked the Hokies over Penn State and Maryland. Wiggins is a 3-star WR per the 247Sports Composite. He hails from King George, Virginia.

This is what the recent Virginia Tech commit had to say about the decision:

“I am happy to announce that I will be continuing my education and athletic career for the next 3-5 years at Virginia Tech!”

Wiggins is the No. 74 WR and No. 9 prospect out of Virginia in his class. His length should do him a lot of favors as he is listed at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds.

Other than the previous schools mentioned Wiggins received from ACC programs like Duke, North Carolina, Pitt, Virginia, and Florida State.

Wiggins is the 14th commit to Pry’s 2024 recruiting class. Wiggins joins 4-star edge rusher Gerard Johnson

as one of the more recent to commits to Virginia Tech.

The Hokies were not able to reach a bowl game under Pry in his first season as HC. Virginia Tech finished the year at 3-8 after wins over Boston College, Wofford, and Liberty.

Pry is making sure to prioritize in-state recruits early on in his Virginia Tech tenure.
