Brent Pry has brought in an experienced coach to serve as a sounding board during Virginia Tech’s spring practices. Former Army and VMI offensive coordinator Brent Davis is a consultant for the Hokies.
Pry isn’t sure how long Davis will be with the team.
“Right now, it’s for the spring. We’ll see where it goes,” Pry said Saturday, per Damien Sordelett of Roanoke.com
. “He’s got some other things going on professionally. This was a chance for him to come down and get to know our staff and us get to know him and him spend some time and add some value to our offensive unit.”
Pry and Davis worked together at Georgia Southern in 2010. Davis left Georgia Southern to be Army’s offensive coordinator in 2014. He held the position through the 2022 season before being let go.

eing strong on the ground.
“You’re talking about a group that’s led the country in rushing nine or 10 times with him as a coordinator and a play caller,” Pry noted, per Sordelett. “There’s certainly a lot of value that he’s bringing to our meeting rooms right now.”
Virginia Tech ranked No. 13 in the ACC in rushing offense for 2022, averaging 110.82 yards per game on 3.14 yards per carry with 15 rushing scores.
If Davis can help Pry and his staff get things going on the ground, the Hokies may take a step forward in 2023.
