Virginia Tech brings out home run hammer, trolls NCAA on Twitter over rule change
Virginia Tech doesn’t care about the change in NCAA rules: the home run hammer won’t be confined to the dugout.
The Hammer was brought out Sunday after Eddie Eisert hit a 2-run homer in the top of the 4th inning to extend the Hokies’ lead to 5-3 over College of Charleston.
Virginia Tech’s social media team invited the NCAA to warn the Hokies about bringing The Hammer out of the dugout.

In August 2022, the NCAA implemented new rules for college baseball. One of the new rules addressed props like The Hammer:
Starting with the 2023 season, celebratory props will not be allowed outside the dugout.
Despite the social media team’s earlier tweet, it appears someone in the dugout realized using the hammer violated the new rule. For Jack Hurley’s home run, a bat was used in place of The Hammer.
