Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry has been impressed with what he has seen from North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.

Pry’s Virginia Tech team will be taking on Maye and North Carolina on Saturday. It will be a competitive conference matchup for Virginia Tech against one of the best quarterbacks in the ACC.

The Hokies are trying to win their 2nd ACC game of the season. For this to happen, Virginia Tech’s defense will need to control Maye. Pry spoke about what he saw from Maye through North Carolina’s 4 games.

“He’s taken some big hits. But he’ll sit in there and throw the ball,” Pry said. “I’ve been very impressed with [him].”

Pry was pleasantly surprised with Maye’s performance in 2022. Maye is having an electric start to the season for North Carolina.

In North Carolina’s loss to Notre Dame, Maye threw for 5 touchdowns and 301 passing yards. He completed 17 of 32 passes. On the season, Maye has passed for 16 touchdowns, 1 interception, and 1,231 yards. He had at least 4 passing touchdowns in every game except for the Georgia State win in Week 2. In that game, Maye had 2 passing touchdowns.
