Virginia Tech had a player enter the transfer portal on Sunday. It was only after one season in Blacksburg that the Hokie decided to transfer.

Cam Johnson reportedly entered the portal per 247Sports’ Matej Sis. Johnson played under first-year HC Brent Pry in 2022. Pry was previously Penn State’s DC/LB coach before taking the Virginia Tech HC job.

Johnson was a former 4-star CB from the 2022 class per the 247Sports Composite. Johnson hails from Baltimore, Maryland and received offers from Boston College, Maryland, Arizona State, and Illinois to name a few.

Boston College was the only other ACC program to extend an offer to Johnson out of high school.

247Sports ranked Johnson as the No. 36 CB and No. 7 prospect in his home state.

Johnson played in 2 games this season for the Hokies with 3 total tackles.

Pry went on to lead the Hokies to a 3-8 record in his first season. The annual rivalry game against Virginia was cancelled following the passing of three Cavalier football players in a campus shooting.
