Virginia Tech added a big piece to its coaching staff on Thursday morning.

The Hokies announced the hiring of Brad Glenn to be their new passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Glenn previously served as the offensive coordinator at Georgia State.

Here’s the announcement:

Prior to coaching at Georgia State, Glenn had various roles over a seven-year stint at Western Carolina. He’s also coached at Appalachian State

Glenn becomes one of the most important pieces of Brent Pry’s coaching staff. With Pry’s background being on the defensive end, having quality coaches who can run an efficient offense will be crucial.

That’s an area where Virginia Tech struggled mightily under coach Justin Fuente. The Hokies ranked just No. 74 nationally in offensive SP+ this season. Braxton Burmeister’s passer rating of 135.23 was ninth amongst ACC quarterbacks.

Virginia Tech faces Maryland in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 29.
