Virginia Tech lands commitment from 3-star pass rusher from Canada

Virginia Tech added an intriguing piece to its 2023 recruiting class on Sunday afternoon.

The Hokies picked up a commitment from 3-star EDGE prospect Ishmael Findlayter.

Here’s his announcement:

Findlayter is the No. 110 EDGE prospect in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings

. A Canadian, Findlayter is the No. 1 player from Ontario.

He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds so he has the frame to be an early contributor on Virginia Tech’s defensive front.

Findlayter also had an offer from programs like Arizona State and Vanderbilt. He was in Blacksburg for a visit in late July and picked up an offer from the Hokies while he was on campus.

Virginia Tech is now up to 17 commitments in the class of 2023. The group ranks No. 32 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings

. So far, 9 of the Hokies’ 17 commitments are from the state of Virginia.

Here are some highlights from Findlayter’s junior season:
