Virginia Tech loses at Old Dominion, again
For the second time in the last five seasons, Virginia Tech has lost to Old Dominion.
The Hokies fell 20-17 in Norfolk on Friday night as the Monarchs spoiled the first game of the Brent Pry era.
Virginia Tech out-gained ODU 333-248 but was undone by 5 crucial turnovers. Grant Wells threw 3 interceptions in his Hokies debut.
Old Dominion also scored a touchdown on a botched field goal attempt. The snap was high, and it turned into a touchdown the other way.

But beyond that play, Virginia Tech made mistake after mistake on Friday night. The Hokies committed 15 penalties for a staggering 121 yards.
There were also special teams mistakes, missed assignments on defense and multiple dropped interceptions.
Wells finished the night 20-of-37 for 191 yards, 1 touchdown and 4 interceptions.
ODU quarterback Hayden Wolff completed just 14-of-35 passes for 165 yards. However, he got the last laugh by leading the Monarchs down the field for a touchdown inside the final minute.

Virginia Tech and Old Dominion are scheduled to play annually until 2031.
