Virginia Tech player apologizes for trucking ODU fan after loss

Virginia Tech receiver Connor Blumrick has apologized for trucking an Old Dominion fan after the Hokies’ loss to Norfolk on Friday night.

Old Dominion fans were storming the field following the final horn and one of them caught Blumrick’s right shoulder.

Here’s the incident:

Here’s Blumrick’s apology, which he posted on Twitter on Saturday afternoon:

“I would like to sincerely apologize to ODU and Hokie Nation for my actions after last night’s game,” Blumrick wrote. “Following an emotional loss, in trying to get to the locker room safely, there was an incident including contact between myself and a fan, that I regret.

“This is not an accurate reflection of my character and I am truly sorry to those I have let down including my coaches, teammates and fans.”

This was Virginia Tech’s second loss to ODU in the last 5 seasons.

The Hokies will host Boston College in Week 2.
