Virginia Tech redshirt freshman Darren Buchanan announced Tuesday that he would be entering the transfer portal after just 1 season in Blacksburg. He, by nature of the redshirt, did not see any playing time in 2022-23.
Buchanan was the former D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year and had several high-major offers coming out of high school. He ultimately chose the Hokies over Rutgers, Georgetown, George Mason and George Washington. It seems he had a thing for George’s.
Buchanan announced his intentions Tuesday on social media.
Buchanan was a 3-star prospect out of high school, considered to be the No. 48 small forward in the country and the No. 2 player out of the DC area. The wing prospect stands at 6-foot-7, 225 pounds and will have 4 years of eligibility remaining.
