Virginia Tech says ‘items were missing’ from its locker room after Old Dominion game

Virginia Tech lost in more ways that one on Saturday. The Hokies fell to old Dominion 20-17, but another loss happened off the field.

Turns out while the Hokies were battling on the field, someone else was potentially poking around in their locker room. Following the game, it was discovered that the Hokies were victims of theft.

Virginia Tech confirmed the suspeced theft, and issued a statement:

“The Virginia Tech athletic department confirmed there were items missing from the Virginia Tech locker room following the football game against Old Dominion in Norfolk Friday night. The university is working with law enforcement and Old Dominion University on the matter, and will have no further comment.”

The alleged theft capped off a dreary day for the Hokies. The loss on the field was Virginia Tech’s first to a school outside of the Power Five or a top-25 independent since 2018.

Things aren’t going to get any easier for the Hokies, as they face three top 25 ranked opponents in as many weeks in October. Perhaps they can put the bad luck behind them.
