Virginia Tech women’s basketball advances to Final Four

Virginia Tech women’s basketball is going to the Final Four.

The No. 1-seeded Hokies defeated No. 3 Ohio State 84-74 on Monday night to earn a trip to Dallas for the semifinals. This will be Virginia Tech’s 1st Final Four appearance in program history.

Virginia Tech center Elizabeth Kitley led the way with 25 points and 12 boards in the win. It was Kitley’s 56th double-double of her collegiate career.

Guard Georgia Amoore was also dominant in this game. Amoore contributed 24 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists to help the Hokies cruise to victory. Amoore was named most outstanding player of the Seattle region.

Virginia Tech will now prepare to face LSU in the Final Four. The Tigers are playing in their 6th Final Four, but their 1st since 2008. However, they’re led by an experienced head coach in Kim Mulkey who previously brought Baylor to this stage on 4 occasions.

South Carolina and Iowa will meet in the other semifinal.

Virginia Tech and No. 3-seeded LSU will tipoff at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday.
