Virginia Tech’s season comes to an end vs. LSU in the Final Four

Virginia Tech’s season ended in the Final Four on Friday night in Dallas.

The Hokies had a 2nd half lead, but LSU dominated the 4th quarter en route to an upset victory.

The loss ends a h

istoric season for Virginia Tech, who had never been to the Final Four before this game. The No. 1-seeded Hokies were out-scored 29-13 in the final stanza.

Turnovers were a major issue for Virginia Tech. The Hokies turned it over 18 times compared to just 7 from LSU. The Tigers turned those turnovers into 22 points the other way.

Despite the defeat, 4 different Hokies scored in double figures. Georgia Amoore scored 17 points and broke the record for most 3

-pointers made in a single NCAA Tournament.

Star center Elizabeth Kitley scored 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting in the loss. She also grabbed 12 rebounds, which was tied for the game high.

Amoore is amongst the players on this team with remaining eligibility. Kitley is a senior but does have an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19. However, it’s unclear if Kitley intends to return to Virginia Tech next season.

Virginia Tech finished the year with a record of 31-5.
