Wake Forest guard Alondes Williams recorded a triple double in the Demon Deacons’ 73-59 win over USC Upstate on Saturday.
Williams poured in 16 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in the win. He’s the first Wake Forest player to record a triple double since the legendary Tim Duncan.
That’s remarkable considering the quality of talent that has come through Wake Forest over the years — including future Hall-of-Famer Chris Paul.
Williams is in his first year since transferring from Oklahoma. He’s arguably been Wake Forest’s best player this season, averaging 18.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per contest.
Wake Forest is now 9-1 this season and is up to No. 57 in the country on KenPom’s live rankings
. The Demon Deacons’ only loss this season so far came vs. LSU on a neutral court.
The Demon Deacons are currently on track to earn an NCAA Tournament berth. They already have Power 5 nonconference wins over Northwestern and Oregon State.
Wake Forest will be in action again on Tuesday against VMI.
