Mitch Griffis, Wake Forest starting QB, reportedly receives status update for Week 9

Mitch Griffis was not available for Wake Forest during a Week 8 win over Pitt. Fortunately, the starter for the Demon Deacons is expected to be back in the lineup for Week 9 as No. 4 Florida State comes to town.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Griffis will be available this weekend and will start for Wake Forest. Santino Marucci made his first career start against Pitt in place of Griffis.

So far this season, Griffis has thrown for 1,211 yards while completing 59.2% of his passes with 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He also has 79 rushing yards to his credit but has not scored on the ground.

W

hile Wake Forest beat Pitt 21-17 last week, Marucci struggled while making the start. He finished just 12-for-21 passing with 151 yards, a touchdown and 2 interceptions.

Facing a team like the Seminoles, Wake Forest will need all hands on deck, and it will still be a massive task for head coach Dave Clawson’s group. We’ll see if they’re up to the task.

Saturday’s kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET on ABC.
