Wake Forest will reportedly be playing without several key players against Clemson, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

The secondary will be taking a hit today as sophomore cornerback Caelen Carson will be out. Carson is Wake Forest’s premier defensive back and it will be a major loss for the Demon Deacons.

In 2022, Carson has recorded 2 total tackles and 3 pass defenses. In the 1-point win over Liberty, Carson defended 2 passes. He had a great game in Week 3 and Wake Forest will have to make up for the loss. Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter had 256 passing yards against Wake Forest in Week 3. Wake Forest needs to work on limiting passing yards from Clemson.

Unfortunately, Wake Forest will be missing other key contributors in the secondary. In addition to losing Carson, the team will be without defensive back Coby Davis for the rest of the season. Defensive back Brendon Harris is week-to-week with an arm injury and he will miss today’s contest against Clemson.

Wake Forest’s defense is dealing with several important injuries and will have to overcome the issues. This will be an important conference game for Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have lost 13 consecutive games to Clemson and will look to snap that losing streak.

Wake Forest and Clemson will play at 12 p.m. ET.
