Sam Hartman broke the ACC’s all-time touchdown passing record on Friday night against Missouri.
Hartman threw his 108th career touchdown in the first quarter against the Tigers. The score gave the Demon Deacons a 7-0 lead over Mizzou in the Gasparilla Bowl.
That touchdown broke a record that was previously set by Clemson’s Tajh Boyd. Hartman and Boyd are the only ACC passers in history to throw for more than 100 touchdowns in a career.
Hartman also has a chance to break Wake Forest’s all-time passing yards record in this game. He entered the contest 196 yards shy of the mark. He’s already Wake’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns.
This is Wake Forest’s seventh consecutive bowl game appearance. That’s the longest streak in program history. The Demon Deacons’ previous record was three straight bowl games between 2006-08.
Hartman still has one year of eligibility remaining, but he has already announced his intentions to move on from Wake Forest. He could decide to enter the NFL Draft after this game. However, coach Dave Clawson has also hinted as the possibility that Hartman could enter the transfer portal
for his final year of college football.
