Wake Forest baseball captures No. 1 overall seed for 2023 NCAA Baseball Tournament
Wake Forest baseball finally learned Monday afternoon what was already expected. The Demon Deacons are the No. 1 team in the country heading into the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
After a 47-10 record and ACC regular-season title, Wake Forest was awarded the No. 1 overall seed for the tournament in the selection show Monday. While that is great news for the Deacs, the No. 1 national seed has not won the national title since 1999.

Wake Forest will host the Winston-Salem Regional and will start tournament play on Friday vs. George Mason. Northeastern and Maryland were the other teams to be placed in the Winston-Salem Regional.
With the No. 1 overall seed, the Demon Deacons have locked in home-field advantage through the Super Regionals if they are able to make it out of the regional round. The College World Series will be played in Omaha.
Clemson was also a top-4 seed at No. 4 overall with Arkansas and Florida out of the SEC capturing the No. 2 and No. 3 overall seeds, respectively. Virginia and Miami also earned regional host sites as top-16 teams to begin the tournament.
