Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson isn’t happy with the public perception of quarterback Sam Hartman.

Hartman entered this season as one of the top quarterbacks in the conference, but his 2022 season has gone a bit under-the-radar so far.

Clawson was frustrated with the lack of attention on Hartman’s game following Wake’s 43-15 win over Boston College on Saturday.

“It bothers me more than it does him,” Clawson said. “I think he’s one of the elite quarterbacks in the entire country. How he’s not getting mentioned in the Heisman stuff is just — look at what he’s done in his career and what he’s done this year. He couldn’t care less. He just wants to win.”

Here are Clawson’s full thoughts on the matter:

Hartman threw for 5 touchdowns and rushed for another in Wake’s win over BC on Saturday. He’s now thrown for 21 touchdowns this season, which is second only to Drake Maye in the ACC. Maye has played in one more game than Hartman this season as well.

Wake Forest is now 6-1 on the season, with its only loss being in overtime against an undefeated Clemson team. Hartman seems to be well on his way to leading Wake to back-to-back 10-win campaigns.

Wake Forest plays at Louisville next weekend.
