Wake Forest ends Syracuse’s season with last-second 3-pointer in ACC Tournament

Wake Forest defeated Syracuse 77-74 in the ACC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.

The Demon Deacons were trailing in the final minute, but they hit 2 clutch shots to secure the win. The 1st was a turnaround floater by Cameron Hildreth in the lane to tie the game.

Then, after a defensive stop, Wake Forest quickly advanced the ball and created a wide-open wing 3-pointer for Daivien Williamson.

Onions:

Williamson’s 3-pointer came with just 0.5 seconds on the clock, giving Syracuse no realistic chance to tie the game.

Williamson scored a team-high 17 points. Tyree Appleby, who made the pass to Williamson to end the game, scored 15 points and has 12 dimes.

Wake Forest will now advance to quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament

against No. 1-seeded Miami. Those 2 teams met back on Feb. 18 in Miami. The Canes won the game 96-87.

If Wake Forest hopes to make a run to the NCAA Tournament, it will likely need to win every game the entire ACC Tournament. Tipoff against the Canes is set for 12:00 p.m. ET.
