Wake Forest lands transfer commitment from former UCLA wing

The ACC will have a new player joining the conference for the 2023 season. ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported the news on Thursday.

Abramo Canka is a wing with plenty of eligibility remaining. He’ll be joining Wake Forest this upcoming season with three years of eligibility left.

Canka is originally from Genoa, Italy and played in 22 games for the Bruins last season. He averaged 1.5 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.2 assists per game coming off the bench as a freshman.

Canka was the No. 35 small forward out of the 2022 class per 247Sports. He was also the top ranked recruit from Italy as well. One thing that Canka brings to the table is his size, coming in at 6-foot-6.

It was probably hard for Canka to see the floor with names l

ike Jaime Jaquez Jr., Tyger Campbell, and Jaylen Clark taking up a lot of the minutes.

The Bruins tried to follow up last season’s Sweet 16 appearance in 2022.  UCLA reached the same round of the NCAA Tournament this year and lost to Gonzaga.

The Demon Deacons finished with a winning record, but could not make it past Miami in the quarterfinal of the ACC Tournament, ending any hopes of reaching the NCAA Tournament.

Wake Forest had also added former Gonzaga players Efton Reid and Hunter Sallis recently.
