Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman officially enters transfer portal

Sam Hartman’s time at Wake Forest is coming to an end.

Hartman has officially entered the transfer portal after 5 seasons at Wake Forest. Last Friday, Hartman played his final game for Wake Forest against Missouri in the Gasparilla Bowl.

He led the Demon Deacons to a 27-17 win over the Tigers in Tampa, Florida. In the bowl game win, Hartman passed for 3 touchdowns, 1 interception, and 280 yards. In the process, he broke the ACC’s all-time passing touchdowns record. The record-breaking 108th touchdown came in the first quarter of the bowl game.

The Gasparilla Bowl was expected to be Hartman’s final game as a Demon Deacon. While it was unclear what his next plan was going to be, Hartman was going to either declare for the 2023 NFL Draft or enter the transfer portal

. Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson knew that Hartman transferring from Wake Forest was a possibility. Notre Dame has been linked as a possible destination for Hartman in the transfer portal.

In 5 seasons at Wake Forest, Hartman recorded 12,967 passing yards, 110 touchdowns, and 41 interceptions. He will be remembered as an all-time great quarterback in Wake Forest and ACC history.

Hartman will look for a final season of college football in 2023.
