Jake LaRavia has been named ACC Player of the Week for his performance in Wake Forest’s last two games.

First, LaRavia scored 13 points and dished out 9 assists in the Demon Deacons’ win over Georgia Tech in the mid-week. He also produced 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks in that game.

Then, over the weekend, he scored 31 points in Wake Forest’s stunning blowout win over North Carolina. He also pitched in 10 rebounds and 4 assists, which helped power the Demon Deacons to their biggest margin of victory over UNC since 2002.

Here’s the announcement from the ACC:

Wake Forest has been one of the biggest surprises in all of college basketball this season. The Demon Deacons entered the year outside of the top 100 in KenPom’s preseason rankings, but have now crashed into the top-30 after a 17-4 start to the season.

The rise has largely been led by a pair of transfers — LaRavia, who played the last two seasons at Indiana State, and Alondes Williams, who was a bench player for Oklahoma the past two years. Both players arrived in Winston-Salem without much fanfare, but have quickly become of the best tandems in the ACC.

Wake Forest will likely be heavily favored again on Saturday as it faces Syracuse on the road. Tipoff is at 8:00 p.m. ET.
