ACC reveals new tiebreaker policy for 2023 football season

The ACC is transitioning to a single conference schedule instead of a 2-division model like in the past. And with that come some rule and policy changes.

The conference revealed its tiebreaker policy for the upcoming season Wednesday morning. The policy for a 2-team tie is as follows:

1. Head-to-head.
2. Win percentage against common opponents.
3. Win percentage against common opponents based on order of finish.
4. Combined win percentage of conference opponents.
5. The team with the highest analytical rating per SportSource analytics following conclusion of regular season games.
6. Chosen by a draw.

And here is the tiebreaker policy for 3 or more teams:

1. Combined head-to-head win percentage among tied teams if all are common opponents.
2. If all teams are not common opponents, the tied team that defeated each of the other tied teams.
3. Win percentage against common opponents.
4. Win percentage against common opponents based on order of finish.
5. Combined win percentage of conference opponents.
6. The team with the highest analytical rating per SportSource analytics following conclusion of regular season games.
7. Chosen by a draw.
