Dabo Swinney gives medical update on Bryan Bresee

Defensive lineman Bryan Bresee missed Clemson’s win over NC State on Saturday night with a non-football-related medical issue.

Before the game, it was reported that Bresee spent time in the hospital this week with a kidney issue but it’s not expected to keep him out longterm. Bresee was on the sidelines tonight in street clothes for Clemson’s 30-20 win.

After the game, coach Dabo Swinney addressed his status. He called it a “really scary” situation but said the Tigers hope to have him back next week.

Bresee is a key member of Clemson’s defense. He’s only played in 3 games this season, but he already has 2 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. He’s arguably Clemson’s top NFL Draft prospect for the 2023 cycle.

It’s been a difficult few weeks for Bresee on a number of levels. He lost his younger sister, Ella, to cancer back in September. College GameDay aired a touching tribute to Ella’s journey

on Saturday morning.

When Bresee is able to return to the field, he will surely make a big impact for the Tigers’ defensive line.

Clemson faces Boston College in Week 6.
