Dexter Lawrence, former Clemson star, reportedly agrees to contract extension with New York Giants

Dexter Lawrence reportedly agreed to sign a contract extension with the New York Giants on Thursday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Lawrence was drafted out of Clemson in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Lawrence played in 16 games for New York this past season. He recorded 68 total tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 2 forced fumbles. His efforts in 2022 made him a 2nd team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection.

The extension will be for four years and worth $90 million with $60 million guaranteed.

Lawrence has done a good job of remaining healthy during his time in the NFL. Lawrence has played in at least 16 games each season since his rookie year.

After signing the extension Lawrence will be the third-highest paid player at the DT position.

Lawrence and the Giants shocked the higher-seeded Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round 31-24 in Minneapolis. He recorded 6 total tackles and 1 tackle for loss in the win.

The team also decided to lock down its starting quarterback for a few more years this offseason. Daniel Jones agreed a $160 million extension

with up to $35 million in incentives.

Brian Daboll will be looking to build on what his team accomplished in year one now that two important pieces have signed to extensions. Daboll led the Giants to a 9-7-1 regular season finish in 2022.
