Dariq Whitehead injury status updated for Wake Forest game

Dariq Whitehead will not play on Tuesday night vs. Wake Forest, the program has announced.

Whitehead is still recovering from a lower leg injury he suffered last week. This will be his 2nd consecutive missed game due to the injury.

Here’s the announcement from Duke:

Whitehead is a key player for the Blue Devils who had been playing his best basketball of the season prior to sustaining the injury. On the season, he’s averaging 8.4 points per game and is shooting 37.3% from 3-point range.

Looking ahead, it’s unclear if Whitehead will be healthy enough to play vs. North Carolina on Saturday. This will be the first of 2 regular season matchups vs. the Tar Heels in 2023.

Duke is still trying to improve its NCAA Tournament résumé. The Blue Devils are a No. 5 seed in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracket projection

for ESPN.

Duke and Wake Forest tipoff at 7:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday night.
