Jeremy Roach, Duke guard, reveals final decision on 2023-24 season

Jeremy Roach had a chance to leave Duke early for the NBA and was pursuing the 2023 NBA Draft. On Monday, Roach announced his final call for the 2023-24 basketball season.

In a note on Instagram, Roach confirmed he’s returning to the Blue Devils for his senior season with the program. That is huge news for the outlook of Jon Scheyer’s program entering next season.

A season ago, Roach was 1 of 4 Duke players to start at least 30 games. He finished second on the Blue Devils with 13.6 points and 3.1 assists per game. He was 1 of 5 Blue Devils to shoot 34% from 3-point range while also averaging 2.5 rebounds per game.

Across 3 seasons at Duke, Roach has appeared in 95 career games with 75 starts and is a 33% shooter from 3-point range. He adds a veteran floor leader to the program for the 2023-24 season.

Duke’s outlook for 2023-24 season

The addition of Roach gives Duke a quartet of starters from last year’s squad back for another run. Kyle Filipowski, Tyrese Proctor and Mark Mitchell have all already announced plans for at least one more season with the Blue Devils.

With Roach returning, Duke now has its top 4 scorers back from last year’s team that won 27 games and the ACC Tournament. Those players also combined to start 135 games during the 2022-23 basketball season.

While Duke lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the Blue Devils are likely to be in the mix to open next season at No. 1 overall.
