Louisville snaps Notre Dame’s 30-game regular season win streak vs. ACC opponents

Louisville picked up a historic win at home vs. No. 10 Notre Dame on Saturday night.

The Cardinals beat Notre Dame 33-20, snapping the Fighting Irish’s 30-game winning streak against ACC opponents during the regular season. Louisville put together a dominant fourth quarter to earn the win.

Prior to tonight, Notre Dame’s last loss vs. an ACC team in the regular season was against Miami back in 2017. The Hurricanes beat Notre Dame 41-8 in that contest.

This is Louisville’s second-ever win against Notre Dame. The first came back in 2014 when the Cardinals won 31-28 in South Bend. Louisville and Notre Dame are now tied at 2 wins apiece in this series all-time.

Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman turned it over 5 times

in the loss, i

ncluding a pair of interceptions in the fourth quarter. It was a similar story last season when Hartman — then Wake Forest’s quarterback — had 6 turnovers in the second half of a loss to the Cardinals.

Louisville is now 6-0 and has earned bowl eligibility in its first season under head coach Jeff Brohm. With a top-25 win on their résumé, Louisville is shaping up as a strong contender in the race for the ACC title this season.

Louisville will face Pitt on the road next week.
