Miami booster John Ruiz is disputing a report that he brokered a NIL deal with a representative for recent Miami QB commit Jaden Rashada.
Rashada committed to the Canes on Sunday afternoon, giving them their highest-ranked commitment to date in the class of 2023.
By Sunday evening, a report from On3’s Jeremy Crabtree stated that Ruiz had reached a deal worth $9.5 million
with Rashada’s NIL representative, Michael Caspino.
Later that night, Ruiz and Caspino both disputed any negotiations on behalf of Rashada.
On3’s report also stated that Rashada turned down $11 million from Florida’s Gator Collective. However, Gator Collective also released a statement on Sunday night denying any engagement with Caspino.
Caspino told On3 that Rashada left “millions” on the table. However, Caspino did not specify which program(s) would have been more lucrative for Rashada.
Ruiz’s company, LifeWallet, has signed dozens of Miami athletes to NIL deals. Ruiz was recently interviewed by the NCAA for an “inquiry” into his NIL deals
with Miami athletes.
Rashada is a California native and is one of the top quarterback prospects in the country. He’s the No. 7 ranked QB in the country for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
