5-star forward Matas Buzelis discusses potential fit with UNC commit GG Jackson

North Carolina is still pursuing 5-star forward Matas Buzelis, who is one of the top prospects in the country for the class of 2023.

In an interview with On3 on Monday, Buzelis gave some specifics about his recruitment — including how he could fit in at North Carolina.

The Tar Heels already have a commitment from 5-star forward GG Jackson, who was named the No. 1 overall player in the class by 247Sports earlier this month

. Despite some potential positional overlap, Buzelis sees a path toward playing together with Jackson.

“I think GG and I would fit really well beside one another,” Buzelis told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “We’re both big wings; I can get it to him, and he can shoot it. We can both run the floor and handle and shoot.”

Buzelis is the No. 7 overall player in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings

. Both him and Jackson are listed a 6-foot-9.

He’s long been a target for the Tar Heels. Jackson and fellow 5-star commit Simeon Wilcher recently acknowledged they’ve been recruiting him to Chapel Hill.

Buzelis has already taken visits to Wake Forest, Florida State and Kentucky. He’s also interested in potentially talking to the G-League about their Ignite program.
