Brady Manek signs Summer League contract with Charlotte Hornets

Former North Carolina star Brady Manek will get his chance in the NBA later this summer.

Manek has signed a Summer League deal with the Charlotte Hornets, he announced on Friday.

While some fans were surprised to see Manek go undrafted on Thursday night

, he will still have an opportunity to prove himself on an NBA floor. If Manek performs well enough in Summer League, it could create a pathway to a 2-way contract — either with the Hornets or another organization.

Manek’s size, passing and shooting ability should give him a chance to impress evaluators this summer. However, he will likely have to show improvement as a defender if he hopes to stick in the league longterm.

Last season, Manek averaged 15.1 points per game and shot 40.3% from 3-point range.

The Hornets are playing in the Las Vegas Summer League from July 7-17. Their slate

includes matchups vs. the Pacers, Lakers, Cavs and Bulls. Their first game is against Indiana on July 8.
