5-star RB prospect locks in official visit to Notre Dame

Notre Dame will get an official visit from 5-star running back prospect Richard Young.

Young will visit South Bend from June 13-15. He’s also set to visit Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia and Oregon this summer.

Young announced that news — as well as details on his 4 other official visits — on Wednesday afternoon.

In addition to those schools, Young is also still considering Ohio State.

“[Notre Dame] is a school I’ve been interested in for a while,” Young told On3. “I just kept it on the low, and me and the RB coach built a strong relationship.”

Notre Dame’s running back coach is Deland McCullough, who joined the Fighting Irish from Indiana this offseason. McCullough has already brought in 4-star running back Gi’Bran Payne from the 2022 cycle.

Young is a 5-star prospect and the No. 2 running back in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings

. He’s also the No. 6 player in the state of Florida.

If Notre Dame can make an impression, Young would be the perfect addition for Notre Dame’s recruiting class. The Fighting Irish recently lost a commitment from 4-star running back Sedrick Irvin Jr. They are hoping to sign 2 running backs in this cycle.

Overall, Notre Dame’s recruiting in 2023 is going exceptionally well. The Fighting Irish have 12 commitments and the No. 1 class in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
