Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison picked off three passes in the Irish’s game against Boston College on Saturday afternoon.
This three-interception performance follows his two picks against Clemson earlier this month. He now has five on the year, becoming the first Notre Dame player to have that many interceptions in a season since Manti Te’o (7) in 2012.
Perhaps even more impressive is that Morrison is a true freshman. He was a relatively unheralded member of Notre Dame’s 2022 recruiting class, but he has made a tremendous impact from day one.
He’s the first Notre Dame freshman with three interceptions in a game this century.
He becomes the first Notre Dame player — regardless of classification — to record three picks in a single game since Harrison Smith in 2010.
Morrison also becomes the 15th different Notre Dame player to intercept three passes in a game. No Fighting Irish player has ever picked off four passes in one contest.
