Notre Dame RB target decommits from previous school shortly after visit to South Bend

4-star running back Dylan Edwards announced his decommitment from Kansas State on Friday evening.

Edwards has become Notre Dame’s top target at the running back position in this cycle. He received an offer from the Fighting Irish earlier this week and quickly made the trip to South Bend to visit campus.

Here’s his decommitment announcement:

Edwards is a Kansas native, so it would be an impressive recruiting effort by Notre Dame’s coaching staff if it ultimately lands his signature.

Edwards is the No. 19 running back in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 2 player from the state of Kansas.

Known for his speed, Edwards won the Fastest Man challenge at a Rivals Future 50 event earlier this summer.

Notre Dame already has 20 commitments in the class of 2023. The group ranks No. 2 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings. The Fighting Irish do already have a commitment from one running back in this class (4-star Jayden Limar) but are looking to take two in 2023.

Here are some highlights from Edwards’ junior season:
