Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry delivers heartfelt message to Virginia football program

Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry offered support to Virginia after Sunday night’s tragic shooting that killed 3 members of the Virginia football team.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Pry sent his condolences to the families of the players and the entire Virginia football program. Pry put football to the side and shared a heartfelt message to Virginia.

“We are a family. And when one of us is hurting, we all hurt. I’ve hugged my own family, felt so close to our team through all of this over the last 24 hours,” Pry said. “UVA was here for us in 2007 and we are here for them now. It’s bigger than football. Coach Elliott and I texted yesterday morning. Our hearts go out to them.”

Pry revealed that he contacted Virginia head coach Tony Elliott about the situation on Monday. He also referenced how Virginia supported Virginia Tech after the mass shooting that took place on Virginia Tech’s campus in 2007. Virginia Tech will support Virginia through this difficult time.

Virginia and Virginia Tech are bitter rivals on the gridiron, but Pry made it clear that there were more important things than football. It was a moment of solidarity between the 2 rivals.

As of now, Virginia Tech is scheduled to host Virginia in Week 13.
