Clemson saw multiple players enter the transfer portal on the 1st day that the portal opened.

Nine players from Clemson jumped into the portal and will be looking for a new college football destination. The players who entered the portal were quarterback Billy Wiles, wide receiver Dacari Collins, quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, wide receiver EJ Williams, cornerback Fred Davis II, defensive end Kevin Swint, running back Kobe Pace, linebacker LaVonta Bentley, and linebacker Sergio Allen.

This mass departure will force Clemson to fill the void that will be left by these players. The most notable name from Clemson in the transfer portal was Uiagalelei. In the ACC Championship Game against North Carolina, Uiagalelei was benched in favor of freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik.

The benching prompted Uiagalelei to officially enter the transfer portal less than 48 hours after the win. For Clemson’s upcoming bowl game, Klubnik will be the starter and Uiagalelei will not be on the roster.

Pace finished his season with 77 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. He was in his 3rd season at Clemson. Allen, the junior linebacker, appeared in 1 game against Furman on Sept. 10.

Clemson will look to overcome these departures against Tennessee in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30 at 8 p.m. ET.
