South Carolina quarterback commit Dante Reno isn’t hesitating to jump into the middle of the South Carolina-Clemson rivalry.

The Gamecocks commit was on the Spurs Up Show earlier this week and outlined his pitch to other recruits who are interested in South Carolina.

“And obviously South Carolina, it’s the place down there,” Reno said. “It’s not Clemson, it’s not any other school – it’s South Carolina.”

Reno is from Massachusetts. He’s a 4-star prospect in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

That is an interesting choice of words, especially in a year when South Carolina is coming off a 30-0 defeat against Clemson in their annual rivalry game.

The Tigers own the all-time series record 74-42-4, but have been even more dominant in recent years. Clemson has won 7 straight meetings and all but 1 of those games was decided by more than 2 touchdowns.

Clemson will likely once again be a big favorite over South Carolina when the programs meet again this season. The Tigers are expected to contend for a College Football Playoff berth while the Gamecocks are hoping to make their second consecutive bowl game under coach Shane Beamer.

That game is scheduled for Nov. 26. Kickoff time is to be determined.
